Naturopathic Medicine, Integrative Oncology
Integrative oncology is an area of focus within naturopathic medicine that supports patients before, during, and after conventional cancer care. A Naturopathic Doctor is medically trained, naturally focused, and regulated through the provincial association, Manitoba Naturopathic Association (https://www.cndmb.org), and the national association Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (https://www.cand.ca). Care in this area is designed to work alongside the plan provided by your oncology and medical teams, not to replace it. The focus is on supporting your overall wellbeing, working with you through the demands of conventional treatment, and drawing on evidence-based natural therapies to support quality of life throughout your care. During a first visit, your Naturopathic Doctor will review your health history and current care plan in detail, with attention to coordinating safely alongside any ongoing oncology treatment. Lab tests are often recommended or requested from your medical team, and your Naturopathic Doctor will refer you for bloodwork where appropriate. Naturopathic care is not covered by provincial healthcare but is often covered through extended medical plans.
