Osteopathy treatment care consists of using a person’s medical history, visual observation, palpation, orthopedic and osteopathic testing followed by hands-on manual osteopathy. The hands-on approach aims to remediate patterns of strain and tension that may be impeding the proper function of the body. Additional guidance for behavioral issues that may be related to the complaint may also be part of the treatment plan. Altogether, the main goals of manual treatment are to improve pliability, mobility, and fluid circulation within the body. The rationale behind these goals is rooted in the understanding of the basic principles of body unity, self-regulation, and the interrelationship of the structure and function.

Our expression of movement is closely related to our central nervous system, which is how manual osteopathy may approach certain problems of the body. Manual osteopathy may be helpful for individuals experiencing mobility restrictions, postural problems, acute or chronic pain, sports injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, or other issues associated with various diseases or disorders.

The osteopathic lens differentiates itself from other modalities when considering its understanding of the interconnectedness of the body’s systems. Osteopathic Manual Therapists offer an individualized treatment to help bring change and support each person. Lastly, another major goal is to help you return to life’s many activities, such as sports, work, and quality time with family and friends.
